My Review –

This is the eighth book in this wonderful series, and I just adore these books! It can be read as a standalone, but it’s much better enjoyed along with the others, and following the journeys of the characters is just pure reading pleasure.

We are now in 1958, and war is over, along with rationing, and life is moving on for the characters. I really loved catching up with everyone and seeing the younger characters growing up and making their life choices.

Central to the book is the pub, the Pig and Whistle, and Peggy is very busy with her family and her businesses. As she enters a new phase in her life, the younger generation are becoming more involved and the new era is a time of great change.

I found it so easy to slot back into the lives of the characters and just soaked up every page of this gorgeous book. Although the characters have to deal with the trials and tribulations of everyday life, there’s still a strong feel-good factor running throughout.

This life affirming and authentic series just keeps getting better and better, and I can’t wait for the next instalment.

My Rating –

Rating: 5 out of 5.
