The Hopes and Dreams of Libby Quinn by Freya Kennedy

I’m so pleased to be part of the blog tour today for this wonderful book. Thanks so much to Rachel’s Random Resources for the copy of the book and invitation to be part of the tour.

About the Book:

A gorgeous new romantic comedy about taking chances and realising your dreams.

Libby Quinn is sick and tired of being sensible.

After years of slogging her guts out for nothing at a PR company, she finds herself redundant and about to plough every last penny of her savings into refurbishing a ramshackle shop and making her dream of owning her own bookshop become a reality.

She hopes opening ‘Once Upon A Book’ on Ivy Lane will be the perfect tribute to her beloved grandfather who instilled a love of reading and books in her from an early age.

When her love life and friendships become even more complicated – will Libby have the courage to follow her dreams? Or has she bitten off more than she can chew?

My Review:

I just loved this book so much! A book about a book lover, what’s not to like?

I think I’ve read all of Clare Allen’s books. She started off writing really super women’s fiction, then had a change of genre to the most gripping psychological thrillers, which I also loved. Now, Freya Kennedy is her pseudonym for some more excellent women’s fiction.

Libby is a marvellous character. She’s funny and she’s determined. She loves books obviously, but what I really loved about this story was her wonderful relationship with her grandfather. Although he’s no longer around when this story begins, he’s still a major character in the book, through her memories of him.

Libby’s descriptions of how books transport you to another world, I’m sure resonates with all of us who love reading, and that’s just what this book does. It’s a joyous and uplifting read, and just what we all need at the moment.

Such real characters, a highly entertaining plot, and that wonderful Derry sense of humour, make this a pleasure to read.

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

About the Author:

Freya Kennedy lives in Derry, Northern Ireland, with her husband, two children, two cats and a mad dog called Izzy. She worked as a journalist for eighteen years before deciding to write full time. When not writing, she can be found reading, hanging out with her nieces and nephews, cleaning up after her children (a lot) and telling her dog that she loves her.

She has met Michael Buble and even kissed him. It was one of her best ever moments.

She believes in happy ever afters.

Freya Kennedy is a pen name for Claire Allan, who also writes psychological thrillers.
