I’m so delighted to be part of this blog blitz on the publication day for this lovely book. There’s even a giveaway to win two of her previous books, see details below.
I’d read one of Bella Osborne’s books before, but I’m now a major fan after reading this one. I’ll certainly be reading more of hers.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Daisy Wickens has returned to Ottercombe Bay, the picturesque Devon town where her mother died when she was a girl. She plans to leave as soon as her great uncle’s funeral is over, but Great Uncle Reg had other ideas. He’s left Daisy a significant inheritance – an old building in a state of disrepair, which could offer exciting possibilities, but to get it she must stay in Ottercombe Bay for twelve whole months.
With the help of a cast of quirky locals, a few gin cocktails and a black pug with plenty of attitude, Daisy might just turn this into something special. But can she ever hope to be happy among the ghosts of her past?
MY REVIEW:
This book was a joy to read. Set in beautiful Devon, with a host of wonderful characters, it’s a delightful summer read.
It took me a while to warm to Daisy, who I thought was quite bristly and a bit immature at the beginning. When I got to know more of her story though, I changed my mind, and became fond of her. We find out more about Daisy’s past, and what has made her feel the constant need to keep travelling and moving on, never settling anywhere, as the story progresses.
I loved the setting of the book, and the characters. There’s plenty of humour in the book, as well as an intriguing plot. Without giving too much away, Daisy’s inheritance from her Great-Uncle is a really facinating building, and it’s great to see what she does with it. I found Daisy’s relationship with Bugsy, the Pug, particularly funny, each being as stubborn as the other!
Highly recommended, a very enjoyable book.
