The Affair by Amanda Brooke

A shocking story about a fifteen year old girl and the man that took advantage of her.

This is the story of Scarlett, a fifteen year old schoolgirl.  When her mother, Nina, discovers that her daughter is pregnant everything begins to fall apart.  Scarlett refuses to say who the father is and Nina suspects her husband, Scarlett’s step-father, and her teacher, Rob, who has been giving her extra tuition.

The story goes back and forth between present day and the past, to when the affair began and is told from both Nina and Scarlett’s perspective.

Right from the beginning I was engrossed in this book.  It’s the sort of book that you need to make sure you have plenty of time for, as it will drive you crazy with intrigue!  Having to stop reading and do normal everyday activities will be an inconvenience. Any time I had a spare minute I was trying to read another few pages, to see what would happen next.

I was feeling pretty pleased with myself about a third of the way through the book when I thought I had figured out the plot.  But no, before I know it, there was another twist and I began to change my mind.  This book will actually keep you guessing right up until the end.  Even when you finally find out what has happened, you still don’t know how it will end.

Yet again, another great book from Amanda Brooke, highly recommended.

MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
