The Day I Lost You by Fionnuala Kearney

When Jess’s daughter, Anna, is reported missing in an avalanche, everything changes.

Jess begins to discover things about Anna that she never knew, and it impacts hugely on the whole family.

I devoured this book.  It’s the sort of book that you want to cancel everything to read, it’s so compelling. The story is told from Jess’s viewpoint, also from her friend Theo’s viewpoint, and there is a really interesting insight into Anna’s life with excerpts from her blog.  It’s a great way to provide insight into a character who you never get to meet in the book, and helps us to understand her.

The plot has many twists and you don’t really know what will be uncovered next.  It’s an emotional read and the characters are very real.  You can really feel for Jess and what she’s going through. The story feels so real that I genuinely gasped at certain revelations.

A wonderful book that will stay with you afterwards. Highly recommended.

MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
